Gaming winners at the Art of Technology Lagos 5.0 Innovation Award

The annual creative-tech conference that explores synergy between the government and the creative and technological sectors rounded of it's 5th edition last week Friday. The Art of Technology Lagos (AoT) conference curated by the Eko Innovation Centre, and sponsored by the Lagos State Government played host to the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, the Lagos State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Tubosun Alake and a company of other distinguished guests in the tech and creative ecosystem.

This year's conference focused on the creative economy and the digital Lagos that would be favourable for the creative industry, technological entrepreneurs and other relevant players in the industry that use technology to amplify their art forms and solve problems in their various niche, thereby significantly impacting the economy.

Africa Comicade won the Gaming and Entertainment Innovation Award. The award is given to a innovative start-ups that have demonstrated excellence in developing and delivering groundbreaking solutions, products or services that enhanced the gaming and entertainment experience for consumers. Africa Comicade were nominated alongside Gamr Africa, Gamic HQ and Meterverse Manga.

Also at the AoT Lagos event, Dash Studios emerged as the first place winner of the AoT Lagos Deal Room; an exclusive platform and opportunity for start-ups to pitch their innovative products and solutions to potential investors at the conference. The Deal Room demonstrated the commitment from the Lagos State government to connect, equip and empower start-ups for growth and sustainable success through programs and partnerships

3 years and 1 Million Downloads Later…

Tonielrosoft  is now celebrating one million downloads of its free classic card game called Naija Whot.  Naija Whot  is a digitised version of the widely popular card game in Nigeria known as Whot!  The game also includes modes like  quick-play with a single robot, tournament match with 3 robots, one vs one multiplayer against a human  opponent as well as action card configurations, avatar customisations  and French  localisation  features. Naija Whot has now become  the first Nigerian game to hit this landmark based on downloads solely from the Play Store.  The game was released on December 09 2014 on the Google Play Store, which means that it reached one million in 3 years 10 months and 22 days (1422 days). The game has also been on the Google Play’s top 100 app and game charts in Nigeria for over the past 2 years now. Another game from Tonielrosoft,  Naija Ludo  is also close to the one million download landmark.
